Four Old Town Events in One Day!

Old Town Manassas will have something everyone on Saturday, September 19 with four different events happening at the same time. Between the 34rd Annual Edgar Rohr Car Meet on the lawn of the Manassas Museum, the Old World Festival at the Harris Pavilion, the Farmers Market across from the train depot, and the Old Town merchants’ sidewalk sale, everyone in the family can make it a fun day.

This year’s Car Meet will feature more than 150 antique cars displayed on the Manassas Museum lawn during the 34th Annual Edgar Rohr Memorial Antique Car Meet from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Last year 160 unusual vehicles not only filled the museum lawn but spilled into surrounding Old Town streets during the car show, sponsored by the Bull Run Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Manassas Museum. Model T Ford enthusiasts will assemble and disassemble a Model T from component parts at 2 p.m. during the meet. Admission is free, and the Museum is offering $1.00 admission. Families can take part in an automobile-themed scavenger hunt at the Museum and visit with vendors selling car accessories for collectors. A “car corral” will feature new and collector cars for sale. Awards will be presented in 22 different classic/antique car classes; for street rod and modified, military vehicles, foreign vehicles, and driver classes. The car show will be held rain or shine.

The shops and galleries throughout Old Town will be hosting a Sidewalk Sale from 10am until 5pm. Find bargains of all varieties including women’s and children’s clothing, fine home furnishings and accessories, novelties, books, gourmet foods and prints of original art. Echoes, The Manassas Museum store will be joining in the sale, which is a perfect opportunity to discover what this wonderful museum has to offer. The rain date for the Sidewalk Sale is Sunday, September 20, 2009.

The Old World Festival is an international education for the kids at the Harris Pavilion from 11:00am until 5pm, sponsored by Nativity of Our Lord Orthodox Church. The whole family can experience Eastern Europe, Greece, Russia, Lebanon and the US through music, crafts, and a variety of foods. This festival is free and open to the public.

The Farmers Market will also be taking place with all of the fall season vegetables , fruits and flowers in abundance. With the addition of the new parking garage in Old Town, parking is now not only free but plentiful.
